  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and sugar in a bowl; sprinkle yeast on top. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt; add yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir to form a rough dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 60-90 minutes until doubled.
  5. Punch down the dough; divide into six pieces and shape into mini baguettes.
  6. Place on a lined baking sheet; cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Optionally brush tops with egg wash or milk.
  8. Bake for about 18 minutes until golden brown.
