  • 8 slices rye bread
  • 2 cups turkey, thinly sliced or shredded
  • 2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1.5 cups sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 cup Thousand Island dressing
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for greasing)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Cut the rye bread into cubes or slices and layer half at the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. Add half of the turkey, followed by half of the Swiss cheese, half of the sauerkraut, and half of the dressing. Repeat these layers with the remaining ingredients.
  4. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.
